Acne and oily skin: Can anybody actually get rid of it?

I'm a 24yr old male and I've been trying to get rid of acne, an oily face, zits, and all, but I've had no success. I've been to a dermatologist a couple times over the years, but I don't think its helping. They give me the same cream and pills each time, which I don't work at all, in fact I think it makes it worse.

Any hidden secrets or home remedies anyone knows of?

Acne and oily skin: Can anybody actually get rid of it?
Cleanse daily, avoid washing away natural oils with soaps or washes, this causes skin to produce more oil than normal which clogs pores. I HIGHLY recommend Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), it doesn't strip away natural oils so is healthy, reduces acne and heals scars. Mix half Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) to moisturize and half Castor Oil (CO) to cleanse, change mix as your skin changes, also try adding tea tree oil as it's antibacterial. Massage mix into your face, then put a hot face cloth onto your face for at least 1 minute, this opens up pores letting the oil cleanse. Wipe off oil, any trace amounts of oil are absorbed so skin won't be greasy. http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.ht鈥?/a> Have your own face cloth and towel, keep them clean and dry to avoid bacteria growth which can cause spots. Moisturize daily, as long as it's not greasy it won't cause spots, but don't be scared to use oils such as Bio Oil which will heal scars too, remember oil is actually good for your skin.

I personally use OCM on my skin, I suffer from acne, flaking skin and oily skin, the flaking skin stopped from day one using OCM, a week later I noticed my normally super-oily nose was as dry and soft as a babies backside, and after a short time using it my spots stopped and it healed up the scars I had on my chin from hormonal break-outs. I've known people with seriously bad acne use this and it works perfectly for them too even after years of all the other products out there not helping.

Once a week steam to open pores by putting your head under a towel over a bowl of hot water, but don't do this during breakouts as it stimulates blood flow and oil glands which can make things worse. Exfoliate weekly to scrub off dead skin, use something with rounded beads as things such as apricot kernels have sharp edges which cause small cuts leading to spots. Another way to exfoliate is cosmetic vinegar which also promotes circulation, regulates skins pH and is antiseptic. Mix 500ml of apple cider vinegar, 3ml lavender essential oil, 3ml rosemary essential oil, 2ml rosewood essential oil, and 2 tablespoons glycerine. Place into a glass bottle, use as cleanser by adding 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup of water. Try masks too, they are easy to make and there are many recipes online, see Make Your Own Cosmetics http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com or Pioneer Thinking http://www.pioneerthinking.com try this mask;

Strawberry acne mask;

Ingredients: 陆 cup fresh strawberries, 1 egg white, 2 teaspoons of honey.

Mix together ingredients until smooth using a blender or a fork. To use spread over face and leave for 15 minutes, rinse off with cool water and pat dry. This one is good as strawberries are rich in salicylic acid which is commonly used in acne treatments, honey is also antibacterial.

Keep yourself healthy, diet is a big factor so make sure to get a healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables as well as a lot of water, but avoid salty foods as iodine aggravates acne, try also a good multivitamin - vitamins A, B6, zinc and chromium help to clean up acne. Get plenty of exercise, sleep and stay stress-free. Pay particular attention to your skin during harsh weather when it is more prone to damage, also avoid agrivation from the sun by using plenty of sunscreen.Acne and oily skin: Can anybody actually get rid of it?
No, there is no cure for acne, all we can do is try to keep it under control. Okay, i don't usually recommend proactiv, but i think in your case it would help a lot. See the thing with proactiv is once you start using it, you absolutely cannot stop. It's like crack for your skin, but it does work. If you use it day and night and dont miss a day, then you will have perfect skin, but the second you stop then your skin is like ten times worse than when you started, and it does run a little on the expensive side. But if you really hate having all that crap on your face, then i would say try it, but only if your going to commit to it.
pro-active always helps. or just keep it clean and wash it throughout the day. and maybe changing your diet, if you eat a lot of bad, fatty, greasy foods, that could be one reason. my sisters boyfriend, who is in his twenties, has severe acne, and it runs in his family, just in case you know its none of the other reasons, it might me in your family.
Acne affects about 85 percent of the population at some time in their life and is the most common skin disease treated by dermatologists. Most teens get the type of acne called acne vulgaris, which can appear on the face, neck, shoulders, back and chest.

Most doctors and dermatologists say that acne is not related to diet, but there is indeed a link--and a strong one at that. Acne clears up when you follow a no-grain diet.

Why is a no-grain diet beneficial for acne?

Eating refined carbohydrates and sugar leads to a surge of insulin and an insulin-like growth factor called IGF-1 in your body. This can lead to an excess of male hormones, which cause pores in the skin to secrete sebum, a greasy substance that attracts acne-promoting bacteria. Additionally, IGF-1 causes skin cells known as keratinocytes to multiply, a process that is associated with acne.

Some say acne is a disease of Western civilization because studies have found that the condition is virtually nonexistent in non-westernized societies, where refined carbohydrates and sugar are rarely eaten. For instance, in one study that looked at acne cases in islanders of Papua New Guinea and hunter-gatherers of Paraguay, no acne cases were found in either group. The findings, which are in-line with many other studies, make a strong case for the significant role of environmental factors, such as diet, in acne.

Limiting grains is an integral step toward optimizing your health. The more we study the influence of grains, and their secondary consequences on insulin, the more we will find that their pervasive influences touch nearly every aspect of our health.

What causes oily skin and how do i get rid of it?

this year i started gettin oily skin. when i wake up in the morning and after the day sometimes. i have had acne before nd have a little now. but what causes it and how do i get rid of it?? its mostly oily on my forehead too. What causes oily skin and how do i get rid of it?
Take a knife and shave your skin off. It will get rid of your skin, oily or not! What causes oily skin and how do i get rid of it?
I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at.

I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life.

I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy.

Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful.

You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy.

Well good luck and best wishes.

use blotting tissues or mattifying powder to get rid of the extra oil or splash your face with water. i have oily skin too, but i found out that using regular gel cleansers made it more oily than usual because it dried the skin out too much. but when i started using milky cleansers or oil based cleansers like ponds cold cream, then it kind of balanced out the oiliness of my skin.
An oily skin , as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film , that needs to be removed daily. For more details on oily skin log on to http://useinfo-oilyskin.blogspot.com/
its oka! just wash your face in the morning and at night. and your hair almost everyday because sometimes your hair gives off oils onto your face.

What is the best foundation to cover oily skin, with frequent outbreaks, and splotchy skin? ?

I've tried Mary Kay and Clinique Work Out Wear. They all get oily and fade. Powder minerals do not cover the discoloration. Please help. What is the best foundation to cover oily skin, with frequent outbreaks, and splotchy skin? ?
This is what worked for my daughter and me. We wash our face with Proactive and run through the 3 step routine morning and night. Then, we use the Bare Minerals Primer followed by the Bisque for concealer and their foundations. Please note that the Primer is very important. It helps smooth the skin and actually absorbs some of the oil. Make sure you are following the instructions of all products. Midday, I use oil blotting tissues which can be found at most drug stores. The acne improved in time and the Bare Essentials worked great to cover the blotty skin and redness keeping a natual appearance. What is the best foundation to cover oily skin, with frequent outbreaks, and splotchy skin? ?
You know I also have tried several different foundations and my skin was always oil and would break out! I stopped wearing foundation for years until I tried Arbonne! Now I wear it every day! It took me time to figure out what color I needed. They also have a makeup primer that also helps control oil! This is my personal fav now! Check it out, it was one of the best things I have done for my skin! I also decide after a few months of using that I could sell this and its been a great business!

best of luck! Angie

  • What should I do about oily skin and which lotion or product should I use?

Every morning I put cocoa butter on my face and since I ride the bus, I wait in the sun a lot and my skin gets oily (especially my nose). What product should I use so that my skin won't be oily or is there a lotion I can switch to? I hate oily skin because it makes me look less attractive in my opinion. Any suggestions? What should I do about oily skin and which lotion or product should I use?
well don't use cocoa butter. i use that for my body cause it keeps my skin even but i don't think it should be used on the face. as for me i have dry skin and i used clean and clear advantage oil free acne moisturizer and it made my face dry. so maybe if you use it on oily skin it will work better. and clear acne.

What type of moisturizers for oily skin?

Can someone tell me what type of moisturizers would work best for oily skin without causing breakouts? What type of moisturizers for oily skin?
dove soap is a moisturizing soap, and that yellow moisturizing liquid from clinique, gel or liquid. you don't need any of their products or makeup, but those yellow liquids will do the trick. I think the gel is for oily skin. using drying agents/soaps/ astringents to dry out oily skin will only make it worse. if you're a teenager, it's one of the things you have to put up with until hormones settle down. don't use liquid makeups, powders are the best and mineral powders/bare escentuals is the best, with spf.

I have oily skin and zits and when I put on foundation on my face it goes on chunky any tips?

I use that whipped mousse stuff from maybelline and when i put it on it goes on chunky and uneven and makes my skin look dry any tips? Should i be using another product and if so what?I have oily skin and zits and when I put on foundation on my face it goes on chunky any tips?
If you have oily skin with zits you really should use an oil free foundation, and if you can find it one that contains Salicylic Acid. This actually helps to clear pores and keep skin oil free. All this means you will not only be hiding the zits but also helping to clear your skin at the same time!!

A great product I have used in the past is ';Dermablend Acne Results Foundation';, you can buy it online at www.skinstore.com, at $27 it's quite expensive however you will find it a fantastic foundation for coverage and has a good range of colours to match your skin tone, and to be honest when it comes to foundation you really get what you pay for. It also contains ingredients which help to fight oil breakouts throughout the day, which means you wont end up looking shiny by lunch time - never a good look!

Another good product is Dr. Feelgood from Benefit, its a balm that's great for using before applying foundation as it fills in fine lines and pores and leaves your skin really smooth - like a baby's bottom! So when you apply the foundation on top you get a really flawless finish. You can buy it online @ www.benefitcosmetics.com, It's really worth trying.

Good luck!!I have oily skin and zits and when I put on foundation on my face it goes on chunky any tips?
If your skin is oily, you might try skipping the foundation and just putting on powder. Or try the foundaton and powder in one.

    Also I like neutragena products.
If a foundation goes on chunky, common sense should tell you to stop using it! I've heard that the mousse foundation actually causes breakouts in some women.

You could try any other oil-free foundation, but the oily skin will always be troublesome. I myself have oily skin, so what I do is use a Cover Girl foundation (it's the only kind that matches my insanely fair skin) around my nose and cheeks, and I finish off the rest of my face with a loose powder. I also use oil blotting sheets throughout the day to remove the shine.
Hi. I found that Physicians Formula has really good foundation....in fact, all of their products are great...the bronzers, the cover-ups, etc.... Good Luck
If you have oily skin, you don't need to put on foundation that has any type of oily in it. You need to use bare essentials, any oil free foundation, or water based foundation if you must use a foundation. Your best bet is to use a dusty powder instead. But before you use anything, please use neutrogena skin care products for your oily skin and zits. If you can't afford that, than use plain alcohol rub or witch hazel.
You need to make sure that you are doing something about your oily skin and pimples before you put anything else on your face....make sure you wash it, apply acne treatment and moisturize before you put foundation on....

The moisturizer should help with the foundation looking dry...

I use Revlon Colorstay foundation and powder...both work great for me, but I apply with a foundation brush...The brush will ensure that your hands DO NOT touch your face...and makes the foundation go on smoother and last longer....Give it a try!!
I have the same skin conditions and I use Revlon's New Complexion. In the morning after I wash my face, I liberally apply a moisturizer (either Proactiv's or Wal-MArts' fragrance/oil free) and then apply my foundation while my skin is still ';wet'; from the moisturizer. I find that it goes on alot smoother, I don't use as much makeup, and my skin doesn't dry out as much or as quickly during the day.

Good luck and keep fighting that acne, girl!
Lancome Color ID is the best. It's pricey but worth it. Definitely goes on smooth and evens out your skintone. Be sure to wash your face first and use a light mosturizer, then apply the foundation with a foundation brush for excellent results on ';problem'; skin.
I used to have acne real bad, I used Max Factor pancake, and believe me, it is not thick at all, in fact lighter that any other foundation that I had try'd, and it was the only one that didn't make my face feel hot and grimey, and stays fresh longer, gotta put it on with a damp cosmetic sponge, and change the sponge often.
Wash your face every night b4 bed!!
    mineral makeup, like bare escentuals.
wet your makeup wedge a little and it will go on smooth. If u don't want to try that, try a lighter foundation that has more color staying power but isnt as thick. A good oil free moisturiser before u put it on works too. Hypo allergenic. I find that most of the time u get what u pay for when it comes to foundation so get the best for your skin. Everything else is okay. Rev. is good, physicians formula, I like clinique very real makeup and it is 100% hypo-allergenic. I have oily skin and occaisional break outs too. But not as many with that product. It looks very natural also. Use a liquid concealer and only dab the pimples u want to hide, if it matches it will blend in with your skin tone.Hypoallergenic ones are good for helping to reduce pimples. Never, Never, Never sleep in your makeup it will ruin your pores and skin.

If I am home I do not wear any makeup to let air get to my skin.
try MAC makeup. studio tech works great. it's a non-liquid foundation that smooths everything out. :]

Whats the BEST product to get rid of oily skin?

My forehead is a little oily and i was wondering how i could get rid of that or at least lower it.Whats the BEST product to get rid of oily skin?
First of all, if your skin is oily there is no need to moisturize. Oil is the skins natural moisturizer, so if you're adding any other moisturizing product on top of that then it will only add to your problem. If your skin is feeling a little dry then a gel moisturizer like Clinique Dramatically Different Moisurizing Gel would help. Also, a sunscreen like Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 is known for it's mattifying finish and wears very well under makeup.

One tip I have is to take a few squares of toilet paper and press down lightly over your foundation. This will help to make your foundation last longer as well as help to stop your skin from becoming oily sooner.

After the above step you can then apply a powder in tapping motions onto the oily areas of your skin. Some popular and highly recommended products are MAC Blot Powder, Garden of Wisdom Silica Powder and Jurlique Silk Dust.

Hope this helped :)Whats the BEST product to get rid of oily skin?
soap will just dry your skin and cause pimples or white heads from all the dead skin you will have. I know this might sound crazy but i had to find something to help me out with my skin my face is oily but dry ya kinda weird but i used (belive it or not) baking soda. Use just a tablespoon and add drops of water to make it like a paste use it softly against your skin and rinse it with warm water. you will so feel the difference! Let me know if you try it. good luck.
Proactiv. I took it and now I don't have ANY zits...in only 6 weeks!!! and get the ';moisture system'; it is best for oily skin. Also, with the face mask in the moisture system; keep it on overnight. You will see IMMEDIATE difference the next day.
Clinique products are very good. oily skin is usually a level 4 and if you have acne, then the Acne Solutions are your best bet. its a 3 step treatment that runs for about 50 bucks at macys. good stuff
In my fathers homeland of Suriname, the local folk remedy for oily skin is rubbing the area with chili peppers and fish scales.
    noxema
Eucerin (its a great lotion) realy works
soap, and real soap, not that whimpy ph balanced stuff.
